E16: Are You Exercising Or Are You Training?

E16: Are You Exercising Or Are You Training?

When you work out, what are you thinking about?

If you’re training you’re trying to focus on specific movements, ques, tempo and reps.

If you are like most people, you are going through the motions and thinking about stuff like how hard it is, what’s for dinner, how fat you feel, or asking your self who is singing the song that’s playing.

I challenge you to observe your thoughts the next time you workout

Most people think they’re focused but truly they’re not once they hit the gym floor.

Why is this? It could be a lack of motivation, sleep, nutrients like DHA (from Fish oil), vitamins and minerals like magnesium and zinc, coordination and other factors that amount to an overall lack of focus.

Personally, I’ve done this at times before I learned good program design. Doing the same workouts over and over or just randomly doing exercises with zero planning left my programming stale and subject to how I felt that day. This is a recipe for unimpressive results.

At Faster Fitness we systematically prevent that. You have a clear plan that is carefully laid out toguaranteekeeping things fresh for your mind and body.

We can lay out the best program in the world but if the execution is poor it will lead not only to no results but possibly injury.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not into wasting my time and money.

So set a clear goal. Be passionate. We’ll set up the plan. It’s on you to execute it.

The process should look like this:

1) Have a good program in place. This will give you a clear focus on what you have to do.
2) Be prepared before every set. Know what the ques are for the exercise are plus the number of reps and sets. For more advanced trainees, know the tempo and rest periods as well.
3) Clear your mind, dig deep, and give your full effort. It helps some people to get mad before a heavy set of squats, but that isn’t as necessary before a set of glute bridges. Just do whatever it takes to get you to give full effort.

If you follow those 3 steps then you will enjoy your training more, improve performance and get better results.

If you are exercising, stop wasting your time and learn how to train!
