Episode 1: How To Get Started On A Workout Routine

People always ask me about what the best workout routine is. The truth is: just about anything compared to what you are doing. When I ask people why they’re not working out now, the top 3 excuses I hear are:

1) I’m busy

2) I’m too tired

3) My _______ already hurts

So lets break these down:

I still wear this jacket

1) I’m busy – Everyone is busy. Some more so than others. I respect hard work, have dealt with crazy schedules and every imaginable issue. Here is how you over come this: Have a plan, set an appointment and execute. The biggest reason why people hire trainers, is the accountability factor!

2) I’m too tired – It can be exhausting the first few sessions, but this hard work will rapidly improve your sleep and hormone levels, resulting in a significant boost in your energy! Just set a plan and force your self in the beginning, your body will adapt and you will LOVE the challenge of working out in no time!

3) My _______ already hurts – Light bulb! This is your body telling you something! What you’re doing isn’t working! Like most people, you have structural imbalances and don’t move properly, so when you do exercise, you reinforce poor movement patterns leading to a painful cycle that leaves you tired and hopeless. The Fix: Get a quality assessment done to discover what the problem is. A combination of improving the health and length of certain tissues and strengthening others is the start. Next, reprogramming new correct movement patterns will make you bulletproof in the future. Translation: Have a qualified coach put you on an exercise program that addresses your issues.
