New Year's Resolutions at a St. Louis Gym

A New You Is an All Year Commitment

Any survey of “New Year’s Resolutions” will tell you the same thing: most people want to get healthier, lose weight, diet, or exercise.  But in a study from Forbes, it’s reported that only 8% of people who make any kind of New Year’s resolution end up keeping them. None of that seems to matter though. Year after year, the resolution lives on. Viva la Resolution! Come January 1, you’ll see countless Facebook statuses proclaiming, “New Year, New Me” or other vows to change their unhealthy habits of the year before. While some of these will be met with an eyeroll and a LIKE, there are some people out there who really intend to better the quality of their lives.

Hey, we get it. Talking about getting into shape is much easier said than done. Well, it’s easier said than done if you don’t have a plan in place. Faster Fitness is here to make sure that 8% stays going strong in 2016 forever.  Our personal trainers will be with you every step of the way, ALL YEAR LONG to provide accountability, meal plans, nutrition coaching, and faster results! We’re not going to just abandon you after the first month or two. We know that sometimes people need that extra push (I sometimes even need that when I’m at the gym). There’s a reason we’re one of the top fitness centers in St. Louis: It’s because every single person that comes into our door, truly sees results.

Each season (and in St. Louis, you definitely can tell the difference between seasons) brings different challenges. You aren’t going to train the same way in the summer as you do in the winter, just like you wouldn’t wear the same clothing for summer and winter. We will break it down, season by season (from swimsuits to sweater weather) to show you what to avoid and how Faster Fitness can end the trend of broken resolutions.

WINTER

Finding motivation to leave the house when it’s in the single digits can be nearly impossible. Bundling up in multiple layers just to go to gym for an hour doesn’t sound like fun! Sometimes a pizza delivery and a Netflix binge sounds way more appetizing. But exercise and healthy eating shouldn’t take a holiday! Foods eaten in the winter months tend to be heartier and higher in calories, but there are some fantastic fruits and vegetables that are in season when the temperatures drop. These include apples, pears, squash, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, and cabbage. Incorporating some of these into your winter meals can be easy. Instead of spaghetti and meatballs, substitute those pasta noodles with spaghetti squash. And don’t forget to go a little lighter on the cheese.

Working out can  be a great way to beat the cold! Stepping into your local St. Louis gym is a great way to get the blood moving and your body temperature rising. The personal trainers at Faster Fitness inspire motivation and hard work to lose weight or gain muscle. You don’t want to be stuck looking like you’re a few pounds away from being Santa Claus. Trust us… getting a head start on your summer beach bod will be a lot easier than trying to rush to get into shape in June.

SPRING

Spring is probably the easiest season to keep up with diet and exercise, but there are still some challenges it brings. Rain can definitely take a toll on outdoor activities and Spring Break is known for excess of every kind (and we’re not just talking about tequila shots in Cancun). Even a quiet trip to Gulf Shores with the family can turn into a calorie overload when you think about all the days and nights you end up going out to eat. It’s important to avoid these pitfalls when heading into the spring months, and remember that nothing feels better than a little fitness on a beautiful spring day in St. Louis.

Whether you’re a member of our individual personal training or group personal training, our trainers will spring you into action to make fitness a priority! This is the time when you can really capitalize on those goals you have for the year. Pushing yourself during these months will make it easier in the months to come to maintain your top fitness shape.

SUMMER

On paper, you’d think Summer wouldn’t bring many fitness challenges. But then you remember ice cream, BBQ, beer… you name it. The phrase “beach body” may now bring to mind pyramid schemes and annoying Facebook posts, but it really is important to be proud of the way you look.

Our trainers take the time to consult with each and every client to find out what their fitness goals are. From there, we ensure that these goals are met with attention, care, and most of all speed. If you want to work on your arms and shoulders, we can devise a plan geared towards working on those areas. If you just want to have more energy so that you can chase your dog and kids around the yard without getting winded, we can do that too! The Faster Fitness trainers have heard it all, and no reason is silly. We’ll sit down with you and create a plan that is specific for your goals. You’ll quickly see why we’re one of the top fitness centers in St. Louis.

FALL

Fall has a lot of the same pratfalls as Winter; holidays that promote excess eating, cold temperatures, etc. But Fall can also be absolutely beautiful in St. Louis, and enjoyable weather can be very conducive to fitness. A neighborhood jog can be highlighted by gorgeous fall colors. Take that Netflix! It seems like every weekend of the season there’s a different 5K or Fun Run, and you know our personal trainers aren’t scared of assigning a little extra homework during this back to school time.

Just because swimsuit season is over, it doesn’t mean you want to slip into your “winter coat” so quickly. Being able to beat those holiday cravings is a lot easier when you maintain a regular workout routine. Balancing a little bit of extra exercise with those big holiday feasts is a lot easier when you include a scoop (or two) of advice and guidance from Faster Fitness on your plate.

As you can see, being one of the top fitness centers in St. Louis is truly an all year job! At Faster Fitness, we are committed to helping you achieve your New Year’s resolution.
