Diet and Nutrition
Being on a healthy diet doesn’t mean you have to cut out all your favorite foods! It’s unavoidable to not treat yourself to fatty or fried foods every once in awhile. The McDonald’s break between the countless errands you have to run really can be an enjoyable thing. But it’s important to be aware when you do it and how often this occurs, so that it doesn’t happen more than it should.
It may come off as a tired cliche, but it really does all come down to moderation. Moderation is the key to life. And this isn’t just with the fast food drive-thru menu – you could even overload on too many apples or too much kale. You think I’m joking, but what I’m talking about here is a balanced diet with a variety of healthy foods that your body needs.
Luckily, healthy foods are actually pretty trendy right now. Going out to eat is not the big diet sin that it used to be. Many great restaurants in the area understand the importance of a healthy and balanced meal; full of hearty vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy grains like quinoa.
2016 truly was the year of cauliflower. From being a trendy side dish at some great restaurants, to replacing ingredients in your favorite comfort foods, we don’t see cauliflower having any slower of a year in 2017. You can mash it as a substitute for mashed potatoes or even use it to make a gluten free pizza crust!
In fact, there are even Paleo pizza recipes that use coconut flour and almond meal. Keep in mind that going Paleo isn’t necessarily the best option for everyone though. There is not a perfect diet that works for absolutely anyone who tries it. Each and every person has their own nutritional needs. Supplements
Adding supplements to your daily routine can add the extra boost that you may need. Supplements run the gamut from simple vitamins and minerals, to protein powders, to risky and untested pills that promise fast weight loss. Our trainers are here to make sure that your health is number one priority. We’d never recommend a product that we’d thought was dangerous or simply not beneficial to your individual needs. What I said about meal plans can also be said about supplements – what I put on my plate and in my body is going to be different than what’s right for you.
However, some supplements can be absolutely wonderful for your health. The good ones are natural substances that have been used for health for thousands and thousands of years!
We recommend a brand called Poliquin Supplements. You get the most bang for your buck and won’t be breaking the bank. Their products range from supplements like creatine and whey protein to multivitamins and probiotics. Exercise
Of course, being a fitness and personal training center, we are all about the importance of exercise. However, just dieting and eating healthy, or just taking supplements is only ⅓ of the equation. It’s the carefully planned combination (by our wonderful personal trainers) of all three that work together so that you truly see results.
Our exercise program is specifically designed for each and every individual. If you’re looking to lose weight, we’ll recommend a cardio intense workout paired with a low-calorie, healthy diet. For those looking to gain muscle, we recommend a weight training intense workout combined with a high protein, low-carb diet.
While very intense, our workouts will never be too difficult that you want to quit. The fact that they are tailor made for you generates the excitement you need to keep coming back. Your home work outs will also be something you look forward to doing.
